Choosing the right place for a food plot on your land or land you hunt with landowner permission. Look for a secluded area where there is a defined edge. Example: Oak trees leading up to a swamp, the swamp edge, pine or hemlock grove border hardwood, or near larger field openings. These are edges. This area should be easy to cut down the canopy (Except the oaks, need those acorns). Clean off leaves, rocks and roots. If possible run a haro through, to break up the soil and roots. I chose to plant NH Wilder Forage I bought at Blue Seal and Whitetail Institutes Clover and Brassica mix. It is looking great!
